Cervical cancer is when cervix cells grow abnormally in the womb and we cannot control them. According to World Health Organization in 2014, more than 1000 Cambodian women have diagnosed with cervical cancer.
Who can get cervical cancer?
- Woman who involved with sexual activities before the 20s
- Woman who have a lot of sexual partners
- Woman who has HPV (a virus caused cervical cancer)
- Woman who smoke
The ministry of Health in Cambodia classifies cervical cancer as the most serious killer among other cancers that kill Cambodian women. Therefore, if you never involved with sexual activities, you should get the vaccination. And if you already involved with sexual activities, you should go to see a doctor and have regular pap smear – a screening procedure for cervical cancer.
